A Tribute to Dick Clark (November 30, 1929 ? April 18, 2012)

Today marks a sad day in the world of music. There is a lot to be said about Dick Clark....but here are a few thoughts that come to my mind about a man whom I feel is well respected. I can't necessarily speak as an authority on his career...but here's how I will always remember him!
Dick Clark is a HUGE reason of why radio and music is where it is today! He was a deejay wayyyyy back when radio was just coming around with more music...and then in the 1950's with 'American Band Stand.' For those of you who may be a little unfamiliar with that...it was a show where teens got together on TV and listened to their favorite artists perform...and a huge growing audience listened at home. Plus...not to mention how he portrayed to many parents at the time how non-threatening this 'new type of music' really was. The show and music then grew on them as well...which catapulted music of the late 1950's and 1960's into a whole new light as well as a new sound, breaking away from the sounds of more traditional music. These events are directly involved with how music has evolved over decades upon decades. I could go on forever about what can be said about this man...from his radio career, his TV career, and all the other various things he involved himself with. He was a huge inspiration to me through the years...as well as many others. Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve will no longer be the same! (Sorry Ryan!)
